Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Yohan Jerome Prakash, trading as Slate & Serif (ABN 44 977 969 075) ("we", "us", "our"). By creating a planner account, starting a trial or making a purchase, you agree to them.

1. What these terms cover

They cover The Slate & Serif Digital Planner (the "planner") at planner.slateandserif.com and our website at slateandserif.com. The planner is a web app you use in a browser with your own account. It is not a PDF, a download or an app-store app. The plan details shown at checkout also form part of these terms.

2. Who can use the planner

You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. Each account is for one person. Use an email address you control, because we use it for sign-in, receipts and support.

3. Your account and security

Keep your sign-in details, planner PIN or password, Maximum Privacy passphrase and recovery code safe. Do not share your account. We will never ask you to send us a password, PIN, passphrase or recovery code.

4. Plans, prices and payment

We offer two plans, Core and Premium. Prices are in US dollars and are shown before you pay; today they are US$59.99 for Core and US$74.99 for Premium. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number.

  • Each plan is paid upfront and covers 12 months. Nothing renews automatically, and we will not charge you again unless you choose to buy again.
  • We are not registered for GST, so no GST is charged.
  • Your bank may add currency-conversion or overseas-transaction fees. Those fees are set by your bank, not by us.

5. Your 12 months of access

Your access starts when Stripe confirms your payment and lasts 12 months, calculated in Sydney time. If you buy again before it ends, the new 12 months begin when your current period ends, so you never lose time.

When your access ends, your planner becomes read-only. You can still open it, read it and export it, but you cannot edit, add entries, upload images or sync. Buying again restores full access to the same planner.

Upgrading from Core to Premium

If you have an active Core plan, you can upgrade to Premium before it ends.

  • Premium starts as soon as your payment is confirmed and ends on your existing Core end date. Your end date does not change.
  • You pay a share of the US$15 difference for the time left: US$15 × days remaining ÷ 365, rounded down to the cent, with a minimum of US$0.50. The exact price is shown before you pay.
  • Each upgrade includes the full US$20 Premium credit, which expires on your Core end date.
  • An upgrade is an add-on to your Core purchase. Our Refund Policy explains how refunds work for upgrades.

6. Free trial

You can start one free 7-day trial per account, with no payment card. The trial includes Premium features but not the US$20 Premium credit.

  • The trial starts when you choose to start it, after you set up your planner's protection, and lasts exactly 7 days.
  • It ends automatically and never turns into a charge.
  • For 7 days after the trial ends, you can still view what you made. To keep editing, buy a plan.

7. Premium credit

Each paid Premium purchase includes US$20 of in-planner credit.

  • The credit is available as soon as your payment is confirmed.
  • You can spend it on eligible official packs in the planner store. Sticker and cover packs are coming soon.
  • It expires when that purchase's 12 months of access end.
  • It has no cash value, cannot be transferred and cannot be exchanged for money.
  • If your Premium purchase is refunded, any unspent credit is cancelled. Packs you already bought with the credit stay yours.

8. Packs and planner content we supply

Packs, designs, layouts and other content we supply are licensed to you for personal use inside the planner. You may not copy, share, resell or redistribute them. If a pack is later withdrawn, or your access ends, items you have already placed in your planner stay where you put them.

9. Your content and privacy

You own what you write and upload. Your planner content is encrypted in your browser before it is saved. You let us store and process that encrypted content only as needed to run, secure, back up and support the planner.

When you set up your planner you choose a protection mode:

  • With account-only, planner PIN or planner-password protection, we can help you recover access after we verify your identity. These modes are private and encrypted, but they are not "zero knowledge".
  • With Maximum Privacy, only your passphrase or recovery code can unlock your planner. We cannot recover it. If you lose both, your planner content is lost permanently.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.

10. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • share your account or resell access;
  • try to get around payment, access, encryption or security controls;
  • copy, scrape, reverse-engineer or overload the planner;
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful or that you do not have the right to use.

11. Our intellectual property

The planner, its design, code, layouts, packs and written content belong to us or our licensors. Buying a plan or pack gives you the right to use it as described here; it does not transfer ownership.

12. Availability and changes

The planner needs an internet connection and a current, supported browser on a computer, tablet or phone. It may be briefly unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

We may improve or change features. We will not materially reduce what you paid for during your current access period. Optional connections, such as signing in with Google or Microsoft, are only offered where we have made them available.

13. Refunds and your consumer rights

Our Refund Policy explains when you can get a refund and how to ask. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.

14. Suspension and closing your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing us from your account address. We may suspend or close an account to stop fraud, abuse or a serious breach of these terms, or to protect the planner or other people. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your content.

A refund or chargeback ends the access that came with that purchase.

15. Our responsibility to you

We provide the planner with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss;
  • our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.

These limits do not apply to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or to anything the law says cannot be limited. We cannot be responsible for planner content you lose because you lost your Maximum Privacy passphrase and recovery code, because we never hold them.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the planner, the law or our business changes. We will post the new version here and tell you about important changes by email or in the planner. The version in place when you bought a plan applies to that purchase, unless a change is required by law, needed for security, or better for you.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales can hear disputes about them. If you live elsewhere, you also keep any rights your local law gives you.
